I was so absorbed in my work that, before I knew it, it was 3:30 a.m. on July 26. I remembered that the Daisetsuzan Trail Journey (60 km) was starting at 4:00 a.m., so I went to the venue to watch it. There were more than 500 participants! I have some experience in both mountain climbing and marathon running myself, so this is an event that personally interests me.🧐
It rained late at night, and by the time I was driving there, the area was covered in thick fog. As I passed Koseki Farm and headed toward Kitataisetsu Ski Resort, deer crossed the road in front of my car three times. Because I had to drive slowly through the thick fog & deer, I did not make it in time for the start.😫
While chatting with the event chairman and some staff from the town office, I learned that the 40 km race would start at 7:00 a.m.
Since I had been awake almost all night, I went home planning to take a short nap. Before I knew it, it was already past 9:00 a.m. … I had overslept! By then, the weather had cleared up and turned into a beautiful sunny day. ☀️
I went back to the venue around 10:00 a.m., where the award ceremony for the 15 km race was taking place.
Under the hot sunshine, food stalls lined the venue, and it was bustling with many visitors.
I’m sorry for the somewhat underwhelming report. 🙇 Next year, I plan to take part in the 15 km race and bring you a more proper report!
